The U.S. dollar is widely used in the
Caribbean and in some countries (US and British Virgin Islands, Turks & Caicos and Puerto Rico) is the
official currency. On French islands (particularly Guadeloupe and Martinique) U.S. dollars are accepted but
the franc is preferred by local businesses. Credit cards are commonly accepted as are travelers checks.
On some islands US dollars are accepted alongside the local currency - so before making a purchase make sure
you know in which currency prices are being quoted. Below is a listing of countries and their currencies.
Use our currency converter

exchange rates.
Although difficult to use (you have to know too many specific details about the city you're visiting), you
can check with Visa's ATM Locator
link to see if there is an
ATM in the Caribbean country you're visiting. Also try MasterCard's
ATM Locator, link it's more comprehensive and easier to use.
